BESKRIVELSE: Center for Professional Development in Journalism is a research, training and development center for professional journalists.
CFJE's mission is to improve the standards of Danish journalism. We create, develop and disseminate new and relevant knowledge and know-how to sustain the continuing development of new competencies in the media industry.
CFJE's vision is to be known throughout the media industry as the key developer and provider of the latest knowledge about journalism and editorial processes. We want to be an institution at the cutting edge of journalism.
We collect and create knowledge and know-how in order to make it available to the media industry and its employees through our online databases and development of continuing training, further education and lifelong learning for journalists and other media workers.
CFJE's activities are financed by a government grant, grants from foundations, and revenues from seminars, courses, and consultancies.
Knowledge and education
CFJE develops and offers long-term education in the form of diploma courses and modular courses aimed at professional media workers at newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and online media. We also offer short-term courses and seminars on topical subjects and trends.
Research and analysis
Through research and analysis we collect information about new developments and training needs in the journalistic field. The emphasis is on journalism research and the collection and analysis of the experiences of professional media workers. We monitor international trends in education, journalism, and news media. The results are published in books, reports, lectures and articles in a number of print publications and websites.
Collaboration and networking
We work closely with media organisations and other institutions for professional development of journalists in areas such as further education, in-service training and the development of editorial products. We maintain close links with media organisations, media workers and other organisations because we accomplish more through networking than we do on our own.
